The attention to detail...

I've never before noticed that in the "no artwork available" artwork in iTunes, the note is slightly embossed, to give an ever-so-subtle raised effect. This is yet another example of detail sweating. We don't sweat details because we need to; we sweet them because we want to, because we are putting ourselves into our work.

If you're not sweating the details in your work, you may want to ask yourself why. Very little work is in and of itself so important or unimportant that it demands detail-sweating or utter disregard. Nearly everything we do is in the middle, and we choose whether we care enough to do more than phone it in.
